The United States women’s Olympic hockey team won its second game in the PyeongChang games by blanking the Olympic Athletes on Russia on Tuesday morning by a score of 5-0. And while the end result was what ultimately mattered, the process was great too, as former University of Vermont women’s team star Amanda Pelkey registered her first Olympic point in the effort.
Gigi Marvin had the USA’s fourth goal but it was a real group effort. Pelkey with the blast, Bellamy causing chaos in front and Marvin picks up the rebound. https://t.co/8r88QJmixr
Her initial shot was saved but the rebound was put home so Pelkey gets credit for the assist. Team USA is 2-0 now and will play archrival Canada its final prelim game. That game could serve as a Gold Medal preview.
Pelkey is a native of Montpelier, VT and is the leading scorer in UVM history.
